Marley Spoon offers premium cooking and eating experiences, with ease and joy for the customer. They are continuously searching for suppliers that offer great food quality. “Quick and easy cooking may sound simple, but if you want to give customers an exciting experience, it requires a lot of effort”, says Isaac Arevalo, head of procurement for Europe. “Especially with complex products like guacamole. Perfectly ripe avocados, the right smoothness, … That’s why we opted for ready-made guacamole, but only from the right supplier.”

The fact that Syros processes avocados that would otherwise end up in the rubbish is an absolute bonus for Marley Spoon in this regard. Both companies highly value foodwaste. Just one more part of their shared philosophy.
Tasted and tested
When composing recipes, Marley Spoon stays local. For Europe, that means that almost all ingredients come from European countries. The quest for a good avocado supplier came to its peak with a tasting of 4 different brands. “Syros was the most pure and tasty of them all”, Isaac says with determination. “On top of that, they were very open to and interested in our supply chain. We had to really work together to align our production processes. That was never an issue. We’re always looking for partners with a certain flexibility. We make a forecast but it’s never exactly the amount of boxes that get ordered. Syros acts quickly and adjusts it’s deliveries. Without a hitch.”
Thinking outside the meal box
Trial and error doesn’t always result in success. The mango salsa, for example, was adjusted to fit Marley Spoon-recipes. The customers unfortunately didn’t love it as much as the creative Marley Spoon-team. However, Isaac and his staff members didn’t want to take the opportunity for new taste adventures away. “We recently added an online shop for associated products. Consider naan bread, to order with a curry recipe, or healthy and yummy breakfast foods. It’s the perfect platform for the Wonky salsas and smoothie bowls. These bowls come in adjusted packaging of 250 grams, starting January 2023. This is just another example of how we think, work and grow together. By supporting suppliers we believe in, we boost their brand and strengthen our own. With shared spirit and sustainable ambitions.”
