For generations, the family Boels have been working in the food Industry with a passion for good food and good taste.
In 1929 Joseph Boels established the first fish smokehouse in Oostende. Providing all types of smoked fish for the Belgian and Luxemburg market the smokehouse became a centre point of the Konterdam district and even today there is a street named after the location.
In 1992 Jean-Marie Boels founded Syros, a food company specializing in importing and supplying avocado and guacamole to restaurants and food retail. Always looking for new and exotic fruits to match upcoming trends in the ever-changing European cuisine, Syros built a reputation not only for excellent quality but also as a new food specialist.
